What always gives me the greatest pleasure is curating this exhibit out of
the work of the hundreds and hundreds of submissions we get from the Trenton
Public School System.

Over the last six weeks the Museum Society conducted docent tours twice a
day for the children of the Trenton Public School system. On Saturday?s
there were standing room only classes in conjunction with the art exhibit.
January 17 was Dragon puppets with Susan Kiley (Mott School), the Dragon is
hanging in the hall. January 24 Mary Fletcher (Cadwalader School)
demonstrated prints with markers & Styrofoam; January 31 Judy Sears (Dunn
Middle School) had all the children building soft Foam Puppets; February 7
Beth Paugh (Trenton Central HS) worked with wire sculpture and February 14
Diane Frascella (the Rising Stars SLC at M L King middle school)
demonstrated construction with sticks and yarn to create Eyes of God. That
brings us to today: Drawing in Color with Aundretta Wright (Holland Middle
School). This has been the best Student show at Ellarslie in 12 years. It
was successful because of the teachers listed above, the relentless
dedication of Susan Hogan, Stephanie Morgano, and Carolyn Stetson. It was
successful because of The City of Trenton, all the docent volunteers, and
the children of the school system. Finally, it was successful because of the
support of Mayor Douglas H, Palmer and Trenton First, without their support
very little would have happened on the last six Saturday?s, thank you very
much.

Juvenile Parole Officer @ Trenton Central High School (TCHS)

Dr. Lytle, during our meeting on February 3, 2004, I did not get an opportunity to discuss with you and others the idea of having a juvenile parole officer working inside TCHS.

Currently, we have about a dozen students attending TCHS on parole.  It benefits the entire community on having additional law enforcement officers working inside our high school, because students and staff will gravitate on feeling safer.  Also, a parole officer gives us direct access (to a parole officer) while giving us the available means of graduated sanctions for a non-complying student.  In addition, a constant communication between juvenile parole and TCHS will develop.

A juvenile parole officer is ready today (at no cost to our school district) to assist us at TCHS, but on a pre-developed schedule.  The parole officer will share the same office with the police resource officer, but he (parole officer) will need a broadband modem and phone line.

I highly recommend having a parole officer at TCHS.  Mr. Ino Donez is the contact person @ Juvenile Justice Commission Division of Parole and he can be reached at (609) 943-3136.

CPAC's revisited

Monday, February 23 thru Thursday, February 26, various times and places.

The Trenton Police Department continues to go through a reorganization process and now the Citizen Police Advisory Councils (CPACs) are realigning to reflect some of those changes. Over the next few months we will be seeking ways to renergize the groups to better serve as catalysts for the Community Police Partnership we have been working to develop these past 40 some months. We request and urge all community groups, churches and businesses throughout the city to send a representative. Join with the concerned and committed individuals who already attend these meetings and see what a difference we can all make when we tackle quality of life issues together.

Residents of the North Ward should attend the meeting Monday, Feb. 23, at 6 pm in the Lipinski Center on Heil Avenue to learn more how the CPAC realignment will impact them. Contact Ms. Jackie Blakey, 989-8838 or Councilman Milford Bethea at 396-4090 for more information.

The East Ward CPAC meets at 7 pm on Tuesday, February 24 at Bethany Presbyterian Church, Hamilton and Chestnut.

South Ward CPAC meets at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, February 25, St. Mary's Parish Center, Adeline and Beatty Streets. Contact Jim Carlucci for more information 396-6612

The West Ward CPAC meets at 6 pm, at the West Ward Fire Station, Lee Ave and W. State Street.

Just Water?

Is the following quote from the Trenton Business Administrator Jane Feigenbaum indicative of the City Hall mindset?

"I certainly appreciate Mr. Guhl's vigilance for Lawrence Township," Feigenbaum wrote. "However, if he wants to take his 4,864 customers to another provider, we will be more than happy to accommodate him."
