Khalilah Sabree?s current body of work is concerned with the notion of veils
of light. These paintings reference Al-Ghazali?s interpretation of the verse
of Light (XXIV.35) in the Holy Quran and the saying of the holy Prophet
Muhammad. She seeks to illustrate levels of enlightenment and metaphorical
veils that are encountered on the road to pure enlightenment. Primarily a
teacher and working in mixed media. She was invited to exhibit in The ?Six
Degrees in Cold Storage?, College Art Association: MFA Exhibition in 2002,
Philadelphia. Her work was also selected for the 2002 Ellarslie Open, at The
Trenton City Museum and she has exhibited at The College of New Jersey,
Ewing and her work is represented in many private collections in the area.
She was selected by the University of The Arts Summer MFA faculty to receive
The 2003 Richard Henkels Award. She has studied at The Barnes Foundation
with Fred Osborne: the Violette de Mazia Trust seminar in Advanced
Theoretical and Critical Studies in Fine Arts, and participated in the
Teacher Education Program at Princeton University. She maintains a private
studio at Artworks: The Visual Arts School of Trenton and is a member of
Artsbridge Artist Group, Trenton Artist Workshop Association (TAWA), and New
Jersey Art Educators Association (NJAEA). Sabree received her BA in Art

NAACP 318 S. Broad Street. The local political parties represent a power
center, which many citizens know nothing about. Of those who are aware, most
lack the knowledge about how an ordinary citizen can access power through
them.  This is remarkable when you consider that local party
representatives, elected at the neighborhood level, not only get first
choice in the nomination of candidates for town or city office, they also
have power over candidate selection far beyond the local level.  In
addition, they are often involved in the selection of fellow citizens to
serve in government positions, both paid and unpaid.

The lack of citizen awareness of local political parties is even more
remarkable given that the office of neighborhood party representative is the
closest and most accessible position for entry into public life.  The
position, know officially as ?party committee-member? is a post to which 4
citizens are elected during the primary election to represent on
neighborhood of 700 to 1000 voters.

Civic Empowerment in Trenton

One of the facts revealed during the Civic Health Survey recently conducted
in Trenton is that the vast majority of Party Committee positions (two per
party per district) are vacant in this city.  The upcoming Primary is the
time when these seats can be filled.  The following workshop will explain
what these Committee people do and how you can become one.  ?Jim Carlucci

The Power in Your Community.
-Did you know that the vast majority of the political party committee seats
in the City of Trenton are currently vacant?
-Do you know what a political party committee person does?
-Do you know what the process is to become a political party committee
person?
-Do you know how many of Trenton?s political party seats are reserved just
for women by New Jersey State law?

Find out the answers to these questions and more about on of Trenton?s Power
Centers!
